On Tuesday, February 17, San Bernardino police officer Gabriel Garcia got out of the family SUV and slowly walked through the garage into his parents’ home.
Although he was wearing sunglasses, he could still see all the activity surrounding the family home.
About a dozen volunteers from Home Depot and the San Bernardino Police Department were raking and shoveling in the Garcia family’s yard — some of them since 7:30 a.m. Bags of mulch were stacked high in the driveway.
Tuesday was the first day of a project to make the Garcia home easier for him to get around in.
The sun was out. There were smiles. Laughs.
